|Franz Kline’s “Painting Number 2”|
May 1 marks our second anniversary and we have chosen American Abstract expressionist Franz Kline’s “Painting Number 2” as our cover for our anniversary issue. Franz Kline avoided giving meaning to his artwork. Art historian Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev commented that Kline’s “art both suggests and denies significance and meaning." (1) This is in tune with Brun’s new stance on film and pop criticism. As we welcome our third year, we thank our readers for being loyal and open-minded. We appreciate your support. Brun Philippines will continue to give you more insightful, sometimes unorthodox form of writing along with typical upbeat helpful articles.
