The Evolving Concept of Marriage and Bible-based Marriages (Video Links)

Here are two videos from YouTube that humorously define traditional marriages. The first video presented by Matt Baume tackles the ever-evolving concept of marriage. Surprisingly, marriage was originally never about mutual love but a common business or political transaction. Baume sums up Western traditional marriages in the past as a contract between one man and a woman enslaved, not in love, polygamous, married to your rapist or your brother-in-law. These are some of the few examples.

The second video by satirist Betty Bower, America’s Best Christian, discusses what constitutes a Bible-based marriage and it is not what you think. I am glad these kinds of marriages were not discussed in Sunday school or Catholic ethics class when I was in elementary. Otherwise, I might have married my favorite mayonnaise brand.
