Resident Critics and invited reviewers have cast their votes and according to them, here are the crème de la crème of Philippine cinema in 2014. As always, choosing the best is a subjective endeavor and we welcome criticism as well. After all, what is the point of being a critic if you cannot take your own vile medicine? To all nominees, congratulations.

Brun Film Awards are divided into two sections: the Critics’ Choice and the Readers’ Choice. For the Readers’ Choice, please go to BRUN FILM AWARDS: READERS’ CHOICE page to vote.

Results for both sections will be were announced on February 27, 2015 [8:27 P.M.]

Thank you for your support. Brun Philippines Online Magazine is a charity publication. We donate our earnings to various charities. The more visitors we get, the more earnings we receive from our advertisers.

ABOUT THE ICON
This year’s icon is the “Medusa Rondanini, ” a marble sculpture that depicts Medusa as a beautiful woman rather than the grotesque monster. We chose it as the symbol of this year’s award to symbolize non-traditional cinema and a call for a new style in Philippine cinema other than the usual run-of-the-mill Hollywood narrative.

Brun Film Awards Readers Choice Section: Results (The Best Films and Performances of 2013)

After almost two months of voting, our readers have made their choices. Here are the results of Brun Philippines First Readers’ Choice Awards. The Readers’ Choice section is a companion to our Critics’ Choice Section. We value our readers’ opinions and we learn so much from them. The number of people who voted is not substantial; after all, Brun Philippines is not popular but we value every single vote. Perhaps next year, we will have a wider readership. Thank you again for supporting us during our infancy.  Thank you as well to Micropoll for providing us with a more secure survey service, guaranteeing the authenticity of each vote.

The First Annual Brun Film Awards 2013: Nominees and Recipients (Critics' Section)

Updated: March 28, 2014 (6:00 P.M.) Recipients announced

Early January 2014, Brun Philippines was invited to participate for the first time in Pinoy Rebyu’s 2013 Movie Poll.  Our official selections were voted by our resident and guest critics as well as selected readers.  Since many critics consider 2013 as a resurgent year in Philippine cinema, we have decided to give our very own awards. Yes, another award-giving body! God help us. Insert sardonic grin here. Don fret, we aim to be the most “ironic self-aware” award-giving body in the country.
