Vocabulary
1. PAY GAP
Definition: The difference in earnings between men and women.
French: La différence de revenu entre les hommes et les femmes.
Korean:
남성과 여성 간의 수입 차이.
Japanese:
男性と女性の間の収入の差。
Chinese:
男性和女性之间的收入差距。

  • Example: The pay gap between men and women is still wide.
  • French: L'écart salarial entre les hommes et les femmes est encore large.
  • Korean: 남성과 여성 간의 임금 격차는 여전히 큽니다.
  • Japanese: 男性と女性の給与格差はまだ広いです。

2. BE BANNED
Definition: To be officially not allowed to do something.
French: Être officiellement interdit de faire quelque chose.
Korean:
공식적으로 무엇을 하는 것이 금지되다.
Japanese:
何かをすることが公式に禁止される。
Chinese:
被正式禁止做某事。

  • Example: Smoking in public places is banned in many countries.
  • French: Fumer dans les lieux publics est interdit dans de nombreux pays.
  • Korean: 많은 나라에서 공공장소에서의 흡연이 금지되어 있습니다.
  • Japanese: 多くの国で公共の場での喫煙は禁止されています。
  • Chinese: 许多国家,公共场所吸烟是被禁止的。


3. WORLDWIDE
Definition: Everywhere in the world.
French: Partout dans le monde.
Korean:
세계에서.
Japanese:
世界中で。
Chinese:
在全球范围内。

  • Example: The company operates worldwide, with offices in 50 countries.
  • French: L'entreprise fonctionne dans le monde entier, avec des bureaux dans 50 pays.
  • Korean: 회사는 50개국에 사무소를 두고 세계적으로 운영됩니다.
  • Japanese: その会社は50か国にオフィスを持ち、世界中で営業しています。
  • Chinese: 这家公司在50个国家设有办事处,业务遍及全球。


4. DESPITE
Definition: In spite of something; even though.
French: Malgré quelque chose; bien que.
Korean:
무엇에도 불구하고; 비록 ~일지라도.
Japanese:
何かにもかかわらず;~にもかかわらず。
Chinese:
尽管;虽然。

  • Example: Despite the rain, they went for a walk.
  • French: Malgré la pluie, ils sont allés se promener.
  • Korean: 비가 왔지만 그들은 산책을 갔습니다.
  • Japanese: 雨にもかかわらず、彼らは散歩に出かけました。
  • Chinese: 尽管下雨,他们还是去散步了
