Definitions & Examples

[a] Bring up
= to mention a topic in a conversation or meeting. Example: She brought up the problem in the meeting.

[b] Bring up
= to care for a child until grown (also to teach values). Examples: They brought up three children in the city. / My parents brought me up to respect all people regardless of gender, religion, age, nationality, political beliefs, etc.

  • Korean: 언급하다 (mention), 키우다 / 양육하다 (raise a child)
  • Japanese: 話題にする (mention), 育てる (raise a child)
