Vocabulary
A. Melting Pots – melting pots, 锅, 녹이는 냄비, 溶鉢 (Places where
different cultures mix together).
Example: “New York is a melting pot of many
cultures.”
(Le New York est un
creuset de nombreuses cultures.)
(纽约是许多文化的融合地。)
(뉴욕은 다양한 문화가 섞이는 곳입니다.)
(ニューヨークは多くの文化が融合する場所です。)
B. Diversity – diversité, 多样性, 다양성, 多様性 (Differences in
culture, race, and ideas in a group).
Example: “Diversity in the workplace makes it stronger.”
(La diversité sur le lieu de travail la rend plus
forte.)
(职场上的多样性使它更强大。)
(직장에서의 다양성은 그것을 더 강하게 만듭니다.)
(職場での多様性はそれを強くします。)
C. Take in (phrasal verb) – accueillir, 吸收, 받아들이다, 取り入れる (Absorb or understand information or experiences).
Example: “It took me a while to take in the news.”
(Il m'a fallu un moment pour assimiler la nouvelle.)
(我花了一些时间来接受这个消息。)
(소식을 받아들이는 데 시간이 좀 걸렸습니다.)
(そのニュースを受け入れるのに少し時間がかかりました。)
D. Stunning – étonnant, 惊人的, 놀라운, 驚くべき (Very beautiful or impressive).
Example: “The view from the mountain is stunning.”
(La vue depuis la montagne est époustouflante.)
(山上的景色令人惊叹。)
(산에서의 전망은 놀랍습니다.)
(山からの景色は素晴らしいです。)
E. Brings (something) to life – donner vie à, 使生动, 생동감 있게 하다, 生き生きとさせる (Makes something more interesting, exciting, or real).
Example: “Her story really brings the history to life.”
(Son histoire donne vraiment vie à l'histoire.)
(她的故事真的让历史变得生动起来。)
(그녀의 이야기는 역사에 생동감을 불어넣습니다.)
(彼女の話は歴史に命を吹き込んでいます。)
F. Dig into (phrasal verb) – fouiller dans, 挖掘, 파고들다, 掘り下げる (Examine deeply or investigate something).
Example: “The detective dug into the case for months.”
(Le détective a fouillé l'affaire pendant des mois.)
(侦探调查了这个案件几个月。)
(형사는 몇 달 동안 사건을 파고들었습니다.)
(探偵は数ヶ月間その事件を掘り下げました。)
G. Hidden Gems – joyaux cachés, 隐藏的宝石, 숨겨진 보석, 隠れた宝石 (Things or places that are valuable but not well known).
Example: “This small town has hidden gems for tourists.”
(Cette petite ville a des joyaux cachés pour les touristes.)
(这个小镇对游客有隐藏的宝石。)
(이 작은 도시는 관광객들을 위한 숨겨진 보석을 가지고 있습니다.)
(この小さな町には観光客のための隠れた宝石があります。)
H. Quaint – pittoresque, 古色古香, 오래된, 古風な (Charming in an old-fashioned or unusual way).
Example: “The village has quaint cottages by the lake.”
(Le village a des cottages pittoresques au bord du lac.)
(这个村庄有湖边古色古香的小屋。)
(그 마을에는 호숫가에 오래된 오두막이 있습니다.)
(その村には湖畔に古風な小屋があります。)
I. Pop up (phrasal verb) – surgir, 突然出现, 갑자기 나타나다, 突然現れる (Appear suddenly or unexpectedly).
Example: “New cafes pop up every month in the city.”
(De nouveaux cafés surgissent chaque mois en ville.)
(每个月在城市里都会突然出现新的咖啡馆。)
(새로운 카페들이 매달 도시에서 갑자기 나타납니다.)
(新しいカフェが毎月都市に突然現れます。)
J. Hustle and Bustle – agitation, 喧嚣, 부산함, 喧噪 (Busy and noisy activity or movement).
Example: “I enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life.”
(J'aime l'agitation de la vie urbaine.)
(我喜欢城市生活的喧嚣。)
(나는 도시 생활의 부산함을 즐깁니다.)
(私は都市生活の喧騒を楽しんでいます。)
K. Wear (someone) down – épuiser, 使疲惫, 지치게 하다, 衰弱させる (Make someone tired or less strong over time).
Example: “The constant noise wore me down by the end of the day.”
(Le bruit constant m'a épuisé à la fin de la journée.)
(持续的噪音让我在一天结束时感到疲惫。)
(계속된 소음은 하루가 끝날 무렵 나를 지치게 만들었습니다.)
(絶え間ない騒音は一日の終わりには私を疲れさせました。)
L. Vibrancy – vivacité, 活力, 활기, 活気 (Energy or enthusiasm in a place or activity).
Example: “The vibrancy of the festival made it unforgettable.”
(La vivacité du festival l'a rendu inoubliable.)
(节日的活力让它变得难以忘怀。)
(축제의 활력은 그것을 잊을 수 없게 만들었습니다.)
(祭りの活気はそれを忘れられないものにしました。)
M. Hooked (adjective) – accro, 上瘾, 중독된, 夢中になっている (Addicted or strongly attracted to something).
Example: “He is hooked on playing video games.”
(Il est accro aux jeux vidéo.)
(他迷上了玩电子游戏。)
(그는 비디오 게임을 하는 데 빠져 있습니다.)
(彼はビデオゲームに夢中です。)
N. Seek out (phrasal verb) – chercher, 寻找, 찾다, 探し出す (Look for something or someone with effort).
Example: “She sought out the best doctor for her treatment.”
(Elle a cherché le meilleur médecin pour son traitement.)
(她找到了最好的医生进行治疗。)
(그녀는 치료를 위해 최고의 의사를 찾았습니다.)
(彼女は治療のために最良の医者を探し出しました。)
