One day, I’ll find the words
so pure and true,
Unburdened light, like morning’s softest hue.
They’ll not demand, nor seek a quick reply,
But speak of love that never asks us why.
No need for answers, no
return to claim,
Just tender love, unspoken, yet the same.
From cruel heart’s design, I’ve learned to show
I love thee for the parts I do not know.
One day, my voice will fade,
no sound to break,
And only actions will my love awake.
In silent truth, I’ll prove my heart’s pure grace,
And bear the weight of love in every space.
Do not lament when words at
last depart—
For in my deeds, you’ll find my truest heart.
Oh, here we go again, my red canoe,
Leaving the beach, where waves in rhythm grew.
We’re pulled by ropes unseen, toward the light,
As sunrise lures us into golden flight.
We know the trance of yellow will soon fade,
Yet still we kiss the sea, though hope may trade.
We caress the crest, and to the breeze we bow,
Haven’t we been here, love, before somehow?
Are we strong enough to venture far,
Or will we sink beneath the morning star?
My red canoe, again we drift and glide,
Un-rowing, foolishly, the turning tide.
Slow down, my vessel worn and weathered true,
The muskeg calls, its quiet strength anew.

I cannot force thee, love, to sail with me,
To chase the sun as it begins to flee,
And lift it from the depths of the wide sea,
Before it sinks, eclipsed by darkened plea.
I know how thou dost love the evening glow,
The crimson hue as daylight starts to slow,
But I desire the dawn’s full vibrant show,
Not moonlit silver on a calm plateau.
Remember how we met amidst the clouds,
When stars above conspired to draw our shrouds,
And in that moment, we believed the vows,
That we could soar and let our hearts not drowse.
But now I stand, with outstretched hands, alone,
As echoes of our love are all I’ve known
