Vocabulary: Commonly Used Verb - "Get Rid of"


Expression: GET RID OF


To “get rid of” has many meanings depending on the context.
"Get rid of" a plusieurs significations selon le contexte.

A. put something somewhere
B. remove something
C. eliminate a problem - éliminer
D. throw something - jeter
E. donate or give away something- faire un don ou donner
F. sell something – vendre
G. make someone go away faire partir quelqu'un

Example:

  • Man: “I want to get rid of my computer.” Je veux me débarrasser de mon ordinateur.
  • Woman: “What do you mean? Do you want to put it somewhere, throw, donate, or sell?” Que voulez-vous dire? Voulez-vous le mettre quelque part, le jeter, le donner ou le vendre?
